WOMEN IN THE TRADES IN SANIKILUAQ
Starting in September 2007, a partnership between Najuqsivik, Nuiyak School, Nunavut Housing Corporation, Qammaq Housing Association and Kakivak Inuit Association will result in 22 female high school students and 5 young Inuit women under the age of 30 building a house in Sanikiluaq.
The site was previously prepared and has piles established. It was the location of a house that burned down several years ago. The ladies will start by inserting the sewage tank, setting up screwjacks for extending the building and inserting a new set of beams.
